Sometimes things are just meant to be.

I'm a big fan of international collaboration, indeed I think it is the only route to a peaceful world.  How can any single nation, without great loss of life, influence another of the large militaristic nations to do the right thing.  Only the pressure, and economic might of the international community has any chance of doing so.

So there I was in Geneva, tired after walking around for some time.  I decided I needed a rest, but being on a tight time schedule didn't want to waste the chance of seeing more of the city.  I went to a tram stop and waited, but soon after I got there I saw one coming on the other side, so hopped over the tracks and jumped on it going in the opposite direction to what I had initially planned.

It started off and then at some point I hear the announcer say "United Nations", and I did a double take.  I got off at the United Nations stop, and couldn't believe my luck.  I took a photo of the big chair, and then made my way towards the building.  For some reason there was something about me not being able to get on a tour, but they relented and let me join with perhaps the last one of the day and I had to catch up with them a bit.

Soon I was standing in the room that held the League of Nations.  Then I was in the very general assembly room where Eleanor Roosevelt had worked so hard to get the Universal Declaration of Human Rights signed.   I literally had a copy of it on my wall for many years.

Most memorable part of the day, and all by chance.
