Oktoberfest
Oktoberfest

I love this photo!

Shortly after leaving Google, a couple of work friends and I decided we needed to go to Oktoberfest.  Our friend Branimir in Munich had offered us a place to stay, and we thought the opportunity too good to pass up.  We took a train to Paris and spent a little time there, then straight to Munich.

We visited the Google office in Munich, where the guys ate but there was nothing vegan.  Looking at going to Oktoberfest tired and on an empty stomach didn't seem like the best idea.  Just as Branimir said to me "I don't think you'll find much Vegan food in Munich" we walked around a corner to be confronted by a two story combination vegan restaurant and deli.

Having been suitable armed for what was to come we headed to Oktoberfest.  We didn't have a table, but some nice ladies let us sit at a table with an old lady having a quiet beer on her own.  We had a really lovely time with her, and I remember Dave buying her a rose before we left.

Then we kind of snuck onto these people's table.  The guy wasn't very keen on us, but the last here was fine, and said we could stay until their friends came.  Their friends never showed and we all had a lovely time together.  As you can see here things are in full swing by this point.  Branimir is very excited that I am taking a photo, and in the background Dave and Marten are clearly up to something, but why Marten has a rose in his teeth I still don't know to this day.

I drank too much, but somehow didn't get as drunk as ten litres of beer should have gotten me.  Indeed after this we went out to a club, had some more beers and danced.  I was kicked by a German girl because I wouldn't dance with her in particular.  I also remember Dave had a plastic boot on, they were a new thing, people used to have casts, and I always have a smile remembering him happily dancing even with the limitations of his foot.

Oktoberfest was done, great memories.
