Trumpism and Our Age of ‘Unlikely Bedfellows’

Naomi Klein

Naomi Klein has long been one of the clearest and most insightful forces on the left. Her insight into the current political milieu is informed by the coincidence that she became famous at a very similar time to Naomi Woolf. Woolf, who initially wrote on feminist themes, and Klein, who initially wrote about modern identity, branding and capitalism, are often confused with each other. This confusion became much more salient as Woolf descended ever deeper into the conspiracy theories, and started appearing on right-wing talk shows, including Steve Bannon's.  Klein wrote a book called Doppleganger all about this, with the juxtaposition of Klein's journey with that of Woolf, being the mechanism to talk about our current cultural moment.

This is only a part of the wide range of topics in this talk. Klein, with the large oversight of the way we treat farmed animals, is always looking ahead to where we are going, and calling for a more equitable and compassionate path.
